Our Mission

To be a welcoming Bible study community in Sandton, Johannesburg where people grow in their relationship with God, serve one another and the local community, and discover their purpose through spiritual education, fellowship, and practical service.

Through our Wednesday online Bible study, free community classes, and youth programs, we aim to share God's love in practical ways that bless the people of Sandton and greater Johannesburg.

The Team

Who Leads the Bible Study

A small team. Most of what happens on a Wednesday evening is two people, a passage, and a Google Meet full of people asking honest questions. If you call the number on the contact page, you will probably end up talking to one of them.

MS

Mr. Sim

Bible Study Lead

Leads most of our Wednesday Bible study evenings and the Exodus series. Twenty years of working with community groups across Johannesburg, and a habit of reading the passage out loud three times before anyone says a word.

First language English. Happy to slow down for second-language speakers.

MD

Ms. Dora

Korean Class & Community

Runs the Sunday Korean class in Parkmore and the youth side of UseCan. Bilingual in English and Korean, which is the reason the Korean class exists in the first place — somebody asked her to teach a friend one Sunday, and the rest of the room wanted in.

Also coordinates the open days and the in-person Sandton evenings.

Our Story

How This Bible Study Started

  1. 2014

A Wednesday evening, seven people, one kitchen table

The first Bible study was a small group meeting in a kitchen in Parkmore. There was no website, no name, no plan to keep going past the first month. They kept going.

  2. 2017

Move online, move to the wider Johannesburg community

The Bible study moved to a video call so people in Randburg, Roodepoort, and Midrand could join without driving. The room doubled in a year.

  3. 2019

The Korean class starts in Parkmore

A small Sunday afternoon class for anyone curious about Korean. Word of mouth did the rest. We are still free.

  4. 2021

    UseCan youth programme begins

A youth initiative focused on young people in Sandton and greater Johannesburg. Leadership, service, and the kind of friendships that get a young adult through their first year in the city.

  5. 2026

    A website, finally

Ten years on, the Bible study has a website, a Google Meet link that gets passed around every Wednesday morning, and a community that includes people in Sandton, Cape Town, London, and Sydney. The kitchen table is still in Parkmore.
