Bible Study in Midrand: A Free Wednesday Group for Residents of Midrand, Kyalami, Halfway House and Vorna Valley
If you searched bible study midrand, you have probably noticed that Midrand has grown fast in the last decade, and the churches have not always kept up. New estates around Waterfall, Carlswald, and Kyalami are full of young families, but the Bible study options are scattered. We are one of them. Here is the honest picture.
This page covers:

Why Midrand Is on Our Radar
Midrand is the kind of place where you can live for three years and still not know your neighbours. People move in for work — the N1 corridor pulls professionals from across the country and the continent. Many of them are looking for a Bible study that does not require driving 40 minutes after work. The online Wednesday format is built for exactly that.
Over the last five years, we have picked up a steady contingent of Midrand regulars. They tend to be young professionals, often with young children, often new to Johannesburg, often not strongly churched but curious about the Bible. The Wednesday group fits their schedule perfectly — log in at 7:30pm, log out at 9:00pm, no driving required.
The Wednesday Evening Bible Study
Wednesdays, 7:30pm to 9:00pm, on Google Meet. We open in prayer, read a passage, and discuss. The group has about a dozen to two dozen regulars from across Johannesburg, including a strong Midrand contingent.
The Bible study is unhurried. We work through a chapter over four to five weeks so we can ask slow questions. Recent passages include the Sermon on the Mount, the book of Ruth, and the early chapters of John.
Who Joins from Midrand
We have regulars from Midrand proper, plus Kyalami, Glen Austin, Halfway House, Vorna Valley, Noordwyk, and the new Waterfall estates. A few drive in from Centurion, which is technically Tshwane but close enough that some Centurion residents prefer our group.
Demographically, the Midrand group is mostly young professionals in their late twenties to early forties, often with young children, often working in tech or finance. About a third are not South African — we have regulars from Zimbabwe, Zambia, India, the UK, and the US.
In-Person Options in Parkmore
For Midrand residents who want to meet in person, our main hub is at Parkmore, 11th Street, Sandton. Off-peak driving time is 20 to 30 minutes from most Midrand suburbs, depending on where you are. Peak traffic can stretch it to 40 minutes, which is why most of our Midrand members prefer the online Wednesday group.
Two in-person programmes run at Parkmore:
- Free Korean Class — Sundays at 2:00pm. About 90 minutes. Beginners welcome.
- First Saturday In-Person Bible Study — once a month, first Saturday, 4:00pm. Smaller, more conversational than the Wednesday group.
